writing to Argue IGCSE Final piece

Imagine. Imagine a conversation without listening. Imagine a relationship with with no love, in which our society we cannot express emotion if money and power is not obtained. A society that is being manipulated by the government and there is no way out of these rigid walls limiting our freedom.  Don’t you think so? That we are being tied by our legs and we’re not able to spread our wings and be free as a majestic eagle? We must not listen to these malicious politicians because we are affecting ourselves through greed and not being sympathetic for those in need.

In our modern society with its internet, it’s reality TV and it’s advanced technology, there are new problems that we must face.

The greatest of our problems is money due to the fact that we’ve enabled our government in the UK to manipulate our trust in them against us through corruption. Money is dark, it’s dangerous. Once its found there’s no way to escape. Throughout history money has lead to greed , murder and conflict. In this modern society with more money than ever, we have seen more greed than ever, more murder than ever and more conflict than ever. Money leads to people destroying what they have built with their hearts and mind. Families and friendships cannot withstand the destructive power of money. So wake up people, smell the roses and make yourself aware of this danger in modern society!

Greed came to the world through money. The devil lies inside each dollar, each pound, each yen, haunting us without us knowing. We have so much money in this world, yet we can’t spare a small proportion of it to our brothers? Why not help one another? There are 185,000 homeless people living in the streets hungry, not knowing if somebody’s out there to love them. Why not love each other? There has been inequality in this world since the day money was introduced to us. The UK and the United states of America spent £530 Billion on the war in Iraq. Clearly, the rich have money to fight with each other, but can’t help the poor dying of starvation. Modern society has been shattered like broken glass, there is no such thing as togetherness anymore.

America was a victim of a catastrophe. When the Twin Towers destroyed by terrorists, America pledged to fight back. They marched into Iraq, shooting down Osama Bin Laden and his troops. The mission was apparently complete, but something caught the eye of the American government, leading them down the road to greed and disaster . The oil hidden far underground has lead to a continuation of the vicious war. America has attacked Iraq for the past 10 years, killing 116,000 civilians. This action happened because we as society weren’t awake to the threat of greed, money and power dominated our mind. This simple action led to 116,000 horrible consequences;Innocent lives were lost.

British society is crumbling because of the loss of our trust. We have been manipulated by our government enslaving us to pay higher taxes. But not to achieve our own goals. I live in the UK, a society in which these power hungry politicians squeeze the juice out of us. That’s right, we’re lead by power hungry machines. We as citizens of the UK fall for their devious and malicious ideas hidden within their deliberately confusing talk of statistics that are only intended to hold us arms length away from the truth. Our government has allowed incredibly high prices for rent and house prices. Every year it seems that the rent increases weekly price, this has lead people to become homeless all over Britain due to the fact the government’s technique to drain the juice out of us. All our efforts, hard work being drained out like it’s nothing. The government are savages of money. They’re possessed by money. The more they have the more they want.

Money is the filter of sympathy, the rich and the government laughs at us. They mock us like a mocking bird. Contrastingly there are those who aren’t intimidated by money. Who know how not to let money manipulate them. who have money but are self centred in what they believe. Bill Gates the richest man the planet once announced his will of leaving 90% of his earnings of 50 billion dollars on to charity after his death and not his children. This is evident that our society still has a chance to survive as Bill Gates is a man with power and with heart to help the poor.

In conclusion, our love for money has taken over ourselves and made us into addicted power hungry machines that do not respect those who are weaker or lack the freedom to be heard. That have been positioned lower in the hierarchy meaning they also had a lower status. But also have been limited to live and feel making us soulos humans.the incapability to live and express on an Earth that we were born in, on aN Earth that we were all born on. We are birds that have been tied by our feet and we try to be free and fly up into the sky but as we are tied by our feet, and have us still on the ground.

Writing to Respond [3]

Dear Samantha Taylor,

I am composing this letter to give my own point point of view suggesting why teenagers should not be doubted upon social media due to the fact that this article is implying that teenagers are intoxicated with certain social media sites like Facebook, and how it might have effect on their social.

I felt it was important to write this letter because I agree with your statement that all of these negative portrayals that people like John Henley imply about teenager, such as ‘’young people post information about themselves online that horrifies their elders’’. And also don’t care about their privacy. I understand that newspapers only comment on a small proportion of incidents that have occurred but claim that it is how all teenagers behave online.

The article written by Samantha Taylor implies that the ”digital age is making teenagers unable to form uniquely shallow and the kids are unable to form meaningful relationships”. I strongly disagree with this statement because digital technology has enabled teenagers, but also including people from older generations to remain in contact with siblings or simply people with a close relationship to stay in contact. You might ask yourself, why would I defend these poor teenagers? Well because this article is discriminating teenagers. Teenagers are being targeted by this article, eventhough people from older generations have influenced them into being anti-social. This anti-social attitude of segregation away from a society that may cause harm on a teenager’s development as a person. Digital technology was created to enable people to maintain communication.  However, teenagers  have taken advantage of digital technology and have used it to access inappropriate things such pornography. This is due to older generations introducing this type of technology to younger generations as part of their nurture, causing them them to develop it as a type of need and something they have to carry through their life for communication.

I detest the fact that this article keeps implying that teenagers have ‘enslaved’ themselves to this digital technology by someone who is from an older generations and who are being hypocritical.  The older generations commenced this such behaviour when they developed this technology, which was evolved this idea into a nightmare. So dear Samantha Taylor, please comprehend that this idea of teenagers enslaving themselves is not something that corresponds to them, having effect on their social life. This digital technology was a disease created by man to spread out and infect people, then being transmitted down the upcoming generations. This was introduced as part of their nature and affected their capability to socialise.

Jonathan Frazen refers to the idea that social media sites are making hard to distinguish meaningful relationships and that social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram stop teenagers distinguishing the reality of our nature of face to face conversations. But also that teenagers might get mixed into relationships with no connectivity in terms of emotions because of a screen being in between them. I totally disagree with Jonathan Franzen’s point because I see the total opposite of what he’s implying.I believe that social media site have actually enabled not just teenagers, but people of all ages to communicate with certain siblings who as distant from each other. Even those who are probably living in another country to reunite contact. Jonathan Franzen also expresses his frustration younger generations who are stuck on social media.

Teenagers are not screen – enslaved social inadequates! Digital technology enriches the lives of the younger generations because it improves the quality of their lives. They are able to stay in contact with certain family members abroad and also to stay updated with events that have occurred in our world. Digital technology is a powerful tool that has enabled us to be interconnected with one another.

Yours sincerely,

Juan Paredes
